Unlike Hennessey or Koenigsegg, Mercedes-AMG will not get into the race for speed with Bugatti.
Since Bugatti broke its speed record with the Chiron Super Sport 300+, supercars manufacturers are all reacting. Hennessey has already announced it wants to beat the 490 km / h of Bugatti, and exceed for the first time the 500 km / h. At Koenigsegg too, we intend to keep the absolute record for top speed internally (since the Agera RS is still officially the fastest car in the world according to the methodology of the record books). Not to mention SSC Tuatara, who will also want to beat the Bugatti Chiron.
And at Mercedes-AMG? Well, there’s no question of getting into this pure speed match, according to an interview with Tobias Moers (the boss of AMG) with Top Gear’s English journalists.
What circuit performance
Normal at the same time, since the AMG One is designed for circuit performance only with its V6 turbo Formula 1 and strong aerodynamics. Like the future Aston Martin Valkyrie, it will not be able to run at the same speeds as these machines more powerful and less optimized for the negotiation of turn corners.
Remember that the AMG One develops about 1000 horses and that its first deliveries should be made early 2021.
