You want to buy a used vehicle, but you have doubts about its maintenance and its seller? The government has just put in place a tool that should reassure you.
This is a website called Histovec.
Histovec, a site to restore confidence with used vehicles
Its principle? Allow anyone, with just a few pieces of information, to get the complete history of a used vehicle. An example: you find a used car on the Internet, or directly at a dealer. You want to know the history of this vehicle. You can ask the seller to play the game, on Histovec.
Specifically, the latter will only have to bring the vehicle’s registration card, connect to Histovec and create a kind of identity card for his vehicle. This information will then be made available free of charge to any potential buyer who can compare it to that listed in the listing for sale, for example.
A free site for all
A site launched following a survey of the DGCCRF, published in 2015, which revealed that a second-hand car buyer would have suffered, this year, hidden defects on the vehicle he bought. It is indeed often difficult, unless you are a connoisseur, to know what is hiding as problems under the hood of a car.
A situation that no longer needs to be with Histovec. The site should allow to avoid many disappointments, and find the rare pearl on occasion, provided of course that the sellers agree to play the game by filling in information about their vehicle.
