The state goes on the offensive against drivers without insurance. Radars will now detect whether a car is insured or not.
The hunt is open against the 700 000 motorists who drive without insurance! Indeed, radars that attack mainly speeding can now control whether the flashed vehicle is insured or not.
How it works?
The vehicle registration plate flashed will be sent to the insured vehicle file, a file introduced on November 18, 2016 and established with insurance companies. It contains: registration of the vehicle, name of the insurer, number of the contract with its period of validity…
A prevention campaign is set up
At first and “for the sake of prevention”, vehicles flashed without insurance will receive a letter to regularize their situation as soon as possible.
This call to order will also inform the offender about the penalties he incurs to know a fixed fine of 500 € (reduced to 400 € for a settlement within 15 days or increased to 1 000 € after 45 days) , at the first finding of the offense.
In case of recidivism , the offender will be summoned to the court, his offense will be recorded on his criminal record and he will risk a fine of up to € 7,500 , with additional penalties such as the cancellation of the driving license with prohibition of ironing, and the confiscation of the vehicle.
